Alachua County Public Schools’ Food & Nutrition Services (FNS) will be expanding the program that currently provides free breakfasts and lunches for all students to 14 additional local schools, meaning any student at those schools can receive the free meals regardless of family income and with no free and reduced-price lunch application required. The new locations are Chiles Elementary, Eastside High, The Einstein School, Expressions Learning Academy, Ft. Clarke, Gainesville High, Glen Springs, High Springs Community School, Kanapaha, Loften Center, Newberry High, Oak View, Santa Fe High & Talbot. The program will now be in place at the 46 schools listed below.
The program is part of the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) initiative funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Schools were selected based on the percentage of students at the school who are participating in one or more of a variety of public assistance/service programs, such as Head Start, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families or the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.
