April 14th

Brad Paisley isn’t above a good bribe.  He built a bar in his house so his band would work on his new album in his home studio.
Luke Bryan has signed on to perform at the Billboard Music Awards next month.  He’s nominated for 7 awards including the Milestone Award.  The show airs live from Vegas on May 18th at 8PM on ABC.
Justin Moore was recently named the “Congressman Bill and Beverly Young Humanitarian of the Year” by the Armed Forces Foundation.  The award recognizes service and commitment to the morale and welfare of military families.
Brantley Gilbert admits he isn’t afraid of much... but there are 3 things that kind of mess with his a little bit and are his biggest fears.  And what are they? Snakes, sharks and commitment.

April 11th

Miranda Lambert’s got an easy cure for “baby fever.”  Anytime she thinks she might want to have a baby... she just gets a puppy.

Eli Young Band met in college and all of them were part of Sigma Nu at North Texas.  The frat boys were more than happy to do a “Greek Life” promotion recently because college kids are were their early supporters.
Dan from Dan + Shay was in a car wreck in Nashville earlier this week.  He’s got a few minor injuries, but won’t be missing any shows.  He’ll just need someone to fill in on guitar for a bit.

April 10th

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill’s performance on the ACM’s Sunday night was just a little taste of what you’ll hear on the new album in September.  “Meanwhile, Back At Mama’s” will be a duet featured on Sundown Heaven Town.
Miranda Lambert says that she’s a pretty nostalgic person and she’s all about the simple things in life and going back to those times – like the song “Automatic” that she wrote...
Whoa... way to go, Luke Bryan!  He’s been nominated for SEVEN Billboard Music Awards – including being the ONLY country artist in the Top Male Vocalist category.
Eric Church is hitting the road with his The Outsiders World Tour on September 11th in Louisiana.  No Florida shows scheduled yet.

April 9th

Keith Urban  says he was hopeless at school and quit at the age of 15 – he says it would have been sooner if it was legal.  But... he says he does not support kids leaving school at a young age.
Justin Moore really wanted to win the ACM’s New Artist of the Year.  Backstage he joked that he would have taken Female Vocalist if they gave it to him – at this point he didn’t really care what they called it.  He just wanted to win.
And whooooo was lip-syncing at the ACM’s.... and whyyyyy?  Rascal Flatts and with good reason.  They have admitted to lip-syncing “Rewind” because Gary LeVox lost his voice.  They didn’t want to cancel their commitment to the show, so they made the last-minute decision to lip sync... which they have never done and admit they’re obviously not very good at it.
Craig Morgan is getting ready to make his ELEVENTH trip overseas to entertain US troops.  He’ll travel with Armed Forces Entertainment and Stars For Stripes to perform a series of acoustic shows in Southwest Asia this spring.
CELEBRITY BIRTHDAYS: Hal Ketchum is 61.  Restless Heart guitarist Dave Innis is 55.  

April 8th

The ACM is celebrating its 50th anniversary in a big way... the show’s moving to AT&T Stadium in Dallas – home to the Cowboys – next year.  It’s a bigger venue to celebrate with more people.
Seems Lee Brice and Jerrod Niemann are behind a lot of post-ACM hangovers.  Tyler Farr even coined the phrase “getting Leemann’d” because the boys were out partying so much... and taking anyone they could with them.
Thomas Rhett wanted to check out the Michael Jackson Cirque du Soleil show One while he was in Vegas, but ended up giving the tickets to a friend... who managed to score him a glove as a souvenir.  And he made some good use of it, too...

Congrats to Lonestar guitarist Michael Britt.  He just got married over the weekend.

April 7th

And... the Entertainer of the Year award goes to.... George Strait!  The ACM’s were good to Miranda Lambert who went home with 3 awards for Vocal Event of the Year with Keith Urban for “We Were Us,” Single of the Year for “Mama’s Broken Heart,” and Female Vocalist for the 5th straight year in a row.  Jason Aldean picked up Make Vocalist for the 2nd year in a row.  Kacey Musgraves won Album of the Year.  The Band Perry opened up the show with their new song, “Chainsaw” and then went on to pick up their very first Vocal Group of the Year award.  Justin Moore took home his first award ever... New Artist of the Year.  Duo of the Year went to Florida Georgia Line.
Highlights included Garth Brooks presenting Merle Haggard with the ACM’s Crystal Milestone Award which recognizes Mighty Merle’s 50 years in country music.  George Strait and Miranda Lambert paid tribute to The Hag by performing a medley of his songs, and Garth led the crowd in singing Happy Birthday – Merle was celebrating his 77th.  Lee Brice performed an emotional solo acoustic version of “I Drive Your Truck” in the middle of the audience.  Faith Hill joined her husband Tim McGraw on stage about halfway through his performance of his new song, “Meanwhile Back at Mama’s.”  Luke Bryan performed “This Is How We Roll” with Florida Georgia Line.  Darius Rucker got a little help from his friends in Lady A as he performed “Wagon Wheel.”

April 3rd

Tim McGraw has a new album in the works.  It’s called Sundown Heaven Town and is set for release September 16th.
The Swon Brothers will make their Grand Ole Opry debut on the 12th.
Dolly Parton will open up to Dan Rather on the 14th – and it will be about her personal life, something that she doesn’t really talk much about.
Craig Morgan is pretty adventurous racing dirt bikes, serving in the Army, racing in a Swedish dog sled excursion... he says his wife, Karen, has never really said no to anything he’s wanted to try, but he’s pretty sure there have been moments where she was probably thinking, “I wish he wouldn’t do that.”
CELEBRITY BIRTHDAYS: Steve Gatlin of the Gatlin Brothers is 63.  Montgomery Gentry’s T-Roy turns 47 tomorrow.  Pat Green will be 42.

April 2nd

Darius Rucker will sing the national anthem before Monday’s NCAA Championship Game.
CMT Crossroads will celebrate its 50th episode with Kacey Musgraves and Katy Perry. The show will air on Friday, June 13th at 10PM.
More performers added to this Sunday’s ACM Awards... Dierks Bentley, Lee Brice, Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley, Darius Rucker, and Rascal Flatts.
Scotty McCreery was disappointed... he missed his chance to tour the White House with the World Series champion Boston Red Sox because the pilot assigned to his flight never showed up.  Instead, Scotty spent the day golfing with his Dad and friends.

April 1st

Watch out!  Things are about to heat up at the ACM’s this Sunday... Blake Shelton will be on stage with his co-host from The Voice... Shakira!  They’ll perform their duet “Medicine” from her new album.
The stars of ABC’s “Nashville” are kicking off their first-ever concert tour beginning on the 25th.  Charles Esten, Clare Bowen, Jonathan Jackson, Sam Palladio and Chris Carmack will hit the road for 3 shows – in Chicago, Washington DC, and New York.
Kip Moore has been doing some writing with Lady Antebellum while they’re on the road together. Don’t know if any of the songs will end up on an album... or on whose, but they’ve been having a good time writing together.
Miranda Lambert finally bit the bullet and joined Instagram.  Her first post was to promote her upcoming album – it should be out on June 3rd. Follow her on Instagram at MirandaLambert.

March 31st

What an honor... The Band Perry will open the 49th Annual ACM Awards this Sunday at 8 on CBS with their latest single, “Chainsaw.” The show is hosted by Luke Bryan and Blake Shelton
Meanwhile, Darius Rucker returns to host the ACM Lifting Lives Golf Classic in Vegas for the 3rd consecutive year on Saturday.
Trace Adkins and his wife, Rhonda, have issued a statement about their divorce.  It says, “Trace and Rhonda are united in ensuring that their children’s interests come first.  They thank everyone for respecting their privacy as they work through this personal matter together.”  Rhonda filed for divorce last week.
Brantley Gilbert gave some of our K COUNTRY listeners a sneak-peek at this upcoming album Just As I Am.  He says that he co-wrote all of the songs on the new album and they’re all true stories.  The album will be in stores on May 20th.

March 28th

Florida Georgia Line is taking a *real* cruise this Fall.  They’ll be on the Norwegian Pearl November 8th-12th along with Nelly, Thomas Rhett, Colt Ford, Cadillac Three, Canaan Smith, and Chris Lane.  The ship launches from Miami and head to The Bahamas.
Miranda Lambert is a huge Carrie Underwood fan and admits to being a little nervous about their upcoming duet.  She says that every time it comes on a rerun of “Girls Night Out” when Carrie did “How Great Thou Art,” she and Blake stop everything they’re doing, watch it, and bawl their eyes out like they have church.
Little Big Town’s Kimberly Schlapman is getting ready for another season of Kimberly’s Simply Southern on GAC.  One of the upcoming episodes will feature a deep-sea adventure right here in Florida.
More artists have been added to ACM Presents: An All-Star Salute to the Troops... including Dierks Bentley, Lee Brice, Luke Bryan, Hunter Hayes, Toby Keith, Tim McGraw, Kellie Picker, and Keith Urban.  It’ll air May 20th on CBS.
CELEBRITY BIRTHDAYS: Reba is 59.  Rodney Atkins is 45.  Justin Moore turns 30 on Sunday.  Thomas Rhett will be 24.  Also celebrating today, local celebrity Kerry Runnels of Ocala, and Kaitlyn Nichols of Dunnellon is 21.


March 27th

Trace Adkins just got delivered another blow... his wife, Rhonda, has filed for divorce after 16 years of marriage citing irreconcilable differences.  She’s asking for primary custody of their girls, child support, alimony, and for Trace to cover her legal fees.  This... while he’s wrapping up a stint in rehab and mourning his father’s death.
Sara Evans and Kacey Musgraves will headline the 19th Annual Key West Songwriters Festival May 7th through 11th.
Brantley Gilbert got his crazy on and took the Polar Bear Challenge... plunging into the freezing cold Cumberland River in Nashville.  Now he’s challenging his fans to take their own Polar Bear Challenge.
Congrats to Daryle Singletary and his wife, Holly.  They’re expecting their 4th child.

March 26th

Rodney Atkins is planning to celebrate his birthday weekend with a special online performance at Stageit-dot-com on March 29th.  Proceeds will go the the Holston United Methodist Home for Children in TN where Rodney lived as a baby until he was adopted.
Miranda Lambert says that her marriage to Blake Shelton is anything but predictable and boring.  She’s featured in the latest issue of People Country on newsstands this Saturday.
Now that Blake Shelton has cut a duet with his co-star from The Voice, Shakira... J-Lo says she wants to do a song fellow American Idol judge, Keith Urban.  She even says she loves country music because if the storytelling.
Eric Church is a bit of a book worm.  He says when he’s on his tour bus going from show to show he’s usually reading something.

March 25th

The Band Perry will appear as mentors on The Voice tonight on Blake Shelton’s team.
Dierks Bentley just earned his 11th career #1 with “I Hold On” from his recently released 7th studio album RISER.
Keith Urban and Vince Gill have announced the 5th Annual “We’re All 4 the Hall” concert to benefit the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.  It will include performances from Brantley Gilbert, Carrie Underwood, David Nail, Brett Eldredge, Kip Moore, Reba and more and will be held May 6th in Nashville.
Rascal Flatts album “Rewind” will be in stores on May 13th and a good portion of it was produced by Jay DeMarcus.  The album was recorded in Jay’s home studio.

March 24th

Chris Young says the first time he heard “Who I Am With You,” he fell in love with the song because it was so powerful.  And he says he really wishes he had written it himself.
Things just got REAL for Vince Gill.  His daughter, Jenny, and her husband just announced they are expecting their first child.
Congrats to Carrie Underwood, Rascal Flatts, Kris Kristofferson, Dean Dillon, Toby Keith and Ronnie Milsap... they all have received ACM Achievement Awards that will be presented in September.
A new biography about the late George Jones comes out April 8th.  The Legend of George Jones: His Life and Death shares untold stories from the Possum’s life that have never been published.  The book is written by his closest songwriter friends Charlene and Peanutt Montgomery.

March 21st

Single life is good right now for Cole Swindell, who just scored his first number-one hit “Chillin’ It.” With no time for romance, Cole claims potential girlfriends would have more fun dating his cardboard cutout. The real Cole always on the road! Cole is among 24 fellows up for “Country Weekly’s Hottest Bachelor” cover, which comes out on April 18th. The poll closes on March 30th.

Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean and Dierks Bentley are among the stars lending their voices to A Working Man's Poet: A Tribute to Merle Haggard. The tribute album comes out on April 1st. The release comes a few days before Merle is honored by the Academy of Country Music with the Chrystal Milestone Award in recognition of his 50 years of making music. Merle was the Academy's first Entertainer of the Year in 1970. The ACM Awards will air live from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on April 6th on CBS.

Zac Brown Band will headline Boston’s historic Fenway Park on June 28th. Zac’ll be in our neck of the woods at the Tampa Amp on May 29th & 30th.

March 20th

Eric Church is saying bye-bye to his ball cap.  Eric’s ball cap was an essential look of the Chief era, but he’s ditched the hat for his latest album, The Outsiders. Eric claims he doesn’t need headgear to be who he is as an artist. Eric’ll be at the Tortuga Music Festival in Ft. Lauderdale on April 12th.

Jake Owen, with wife Lacey and baby daughter Pearl in tow, hits the road today for his Days of Gold Tour. The first stop is chilly Brookings, South Dakota, where Jake hopes to warm things up with his Florida-themed show. He’ll wrap up the tour in Vero Beach on October 25th.

Luke Bryan's Spring Break 6...Like We Ain't Ever has partied its way to the top. It's the nation's top-selling country album in its first week out, according to the latest SoundScan figures.

Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood, who've been living in Oklahoma while raising Garth's daughters, plan on moving back to Nashville when their youngest girl goes off to college in the fall. 

March 19th

The shirtless wonder Tim McGraw channeled his inner superhero on Monday, jetting out of a body of water with a water-powered jetpack. Sharing a picture of the stunt, he tweeted, “Here’s how I’m spending St. Patrick’s Day.” The glory shot shows the results of Tim’s hard work with CrossFit, his go-to exercise. Tim’s Sundown Heaven Town tour lands at the Tampa Amp on July 12th.

Carrie Underwood is so over Nashville’s winter weather. She tweeted yesterday, “I’m about tired of this cold, gloomy weather. It makes me want to write sad songs… #NeedSomeSunshine.”  Carrie won’t have to wait long. Tomorrow (Thursday, 3/20) is the first day of spring, and the forecast calls for sunshine for much of Middle Tennessee.

John Rich is at spring break in Panama City Beach to launch Redneck Riviera, his new lifestyle brand. The company promotes a care-free beach vibe through a line of T-shirts, hats, and koozies with slogans like "Here for the Par-tay" and "Hang Ten, Y'all." Check it out at ReneckRiviera.com

March 18th

Scotty McCreery was all a-Twitter over the weekend when the NC State University men’s basketball team scored a bid to the NCAA tournament. Selection Sunday had Scotty dancing on the ceiling with the Wolfpack, who jumped out of their seats when the team was selected for the First Four which is the four play-in games that kick off the tournament. Scotty tweeted, “STATE!… I’m going to Dayton to cheer on the Pack and bringing a crowd, too! Who’s with me?!  The Wolfpack will face Xavier tonight (Tuesday, 3/18) at 9:10pm ET on TruTv.

With his drinking days over, Brantley Gilbert claims he doesn’t know the first thing about running a moonshine still, much less heading up a band of gangster moonshiners. But if he were to run an illegal operation, he wouldn’t hire the crew of gorgeous models featured in his “Bottoms Up” video. The Georgia native is a Southern gentleman, and he wouldn’t want his ladies to get caught in any crossfire with the law.

Jason Aldean is dating Brittany Kerr, the girl he was caught kissing in a Sunset Strip bar in 2012 while he was still married. At the time, he said that he was drunk and that the incident was a mistake. Brittany, who once competed on American Idol, was spotted at backstage at his show in Austin, Texas recently. Jason's rep confirms that the two are a couple and began dating after Jason and his wife divorced.

March 17th

Frankie Ballard’s “Helluva Life” is the number one song in the country this morning. It’s Frankie’s first number one and to commemorate the event, Frankie says he’s going to buy himself a rhinestone suit.

Lee Brice states he’s committed to his career as a pro solo artist, Lee says he wouldn’t rule out an opportunity to run his own record label one day. He says he can see himself making executive decisions sporting a backwards baseball cap with a suit and tie.

Eric Paslay is getting into St. Patrick’s Day today. Eric, who is extremely tall and red-headed, has for a long time jokingly referred to himself as a giant leprechau

March 14th

Justin Moore has found a new guilty pleasure to watch on the road... the new A&E show “Moonshiners.”  He’s actually got a connection... one of the guys on the show went to high school with his aunt.
Florida Georgia Line’s Tyler Hubbard recently got some fresh ink in memory of his late fataher.  And he went to the best – celebrity tattoo artist Kat Von D of the hit TLC reality show L.A. Ink tattooed the portrait of his Dad on his right forearm.
More info on the new duet that Blake Shelton is doing with his fellow judge on The Voice.  He and Shakira will be featured in a duet on her upcoming album.  It’s called “Medicine” and she says she wanted to work with Nashville people because she’s a little tired of L.A.
Frankie Ballard was recently invited to become and honorary “Friends and Family” member of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.  He was there last week to meet the staff and take a tour.

March 13th

Hunter Hayes is going to attempt to do 10 shows, 10 cities, in 24 hours.  He’ll kick things off in New York City on May 9th and wrap it up in Philly on the 10th with his final show at 5AM.
Jake Owen says that his 16 month old daughter, Pearl, is at the repeat-everything age.  He says she already climbs into his high chair by herself and says things like, “Hey dude, totally.”
Florida Georgia Line announced the launch of its 3rd Annual Outnumber Hunger Campaign – which has provided more than 25million meals to Americans in need as part of a partnership with Feeding America and Big Machine Label Group.
Trace Adkins made a surprise appearance at the Grand Ole Opry Tuesday night to sing with Exile.
