November 25th


Dierks Bentley and Luke Bryan will be headlining parades in New Orleans for Mardi Gras next year.
If you see a Tweet from Garth Brooks, you can believe that it’s not someone “handling” his account, but the man himself. Garth says he doesn’t like somebody else speaking for him.
Kenny Chesney will receive the Groundbreaker Award at the 1st Annual ACC Awards on December 15th on FOX-TV.
Little Big Town are among the stars featured in new episodes of the PBS series Front and Center.  The band’s show will be filmed at Nashville’s Marathon Music Words during the first week of December.
Jake Owen took the wheel on Friday to drive people around Nashville for ridesharing service Uber.  Uber is a smartphone app people can use to request rides from drivers around town instead of taking a taxi.  Jake was part of Uber’s partnership with music streaming service Spotify which allowed riders to connect their Uber app to their Spotify account and stream music throughout their ride.

November 24th


The American Music Awards were handed out last night and our country winners are... Luke Bryan for
Favorite Male Artist, Carrie Underwood for Favorite Female Artist.  Florida Georgia Line won Favorite Band, Duo or Group.  And Favorite Album goes to Brantley Gilbert for Just As I Am.
Brantley says that he’s looking forward to Thanksgiving this year.  He’s got the fiancée's family and his family... and they’re ALL getting together.
Ronnie Milsap is getting ready to kick off his farewell tour that he’s named “Legend In My Time.”  Ronnie is 71 and he’ll kick off a 3-year tour when he performs an intimate show at the Country Music Hall of Fame on Saturday.
Country music fans will be able to celebrate the biggest college football weekend of the year with the first-ever televised special CMT Ultimate Kickoff Party Live from the College Football Playoff National Championship.  It’ll premiere live on CMT Friday, January 9th at 9PM and will feature performances by Toby Keith, Lady Antebellum, Brett Eldredge, and Big & Rich.

November 21st


Easton Corbin will be at our huge concert at Silver Springs State Park tomorrow with Montgomery Gentry and Jackie Lee... and he recently did something downright awesome.  Easton, along with Ram Trucks, presented a million dollar check to the National FFA Organization.
Luke Bryan may be done touring for the year, but that doesn’t mean he’s slowing down at all.  Luke says he’s been staying busy writing songs for his follow-up album to Crash My Party.  He says that the past two months he’s really been ramping up the writing and starting to think about ideas and what he wants to say.
Always outspoken, Blake Shelton says he can see why artists including Taylor Swift and Jason Aldean have pulled their music from the streaming service Spotify.  He says that he knows it’s in a kind of experimental phase and changing the industry and he can see why Taylor and others have done that.
And in other Blake news... he’s earned himself a coveted spot in People Magazine’s 2014 Sexiest Man Alive issue.  And considering all the jokes he made last year when his The Voice co-judge Adam Levine was chosen Sexiest Man Alive... it seems fitting that Adam have a chance to tease him, too.  The issue is available now.

November 20th


Congratulations to Scotty McCreery… he recently picked up 3 RIAA Platinum certifications with his hit songs “I Love You This Big,” and “The Trouble With Girls” from his debut album Clear As Day, and “See You Tonight” from his follow-up album See You Tonight.
 
Keith Urban is up for a couple of awards “Down Under.”  He’s up for Single and Video Clip of the Year at the 2015 Country Music Awards of Australia January 24th.  He’s also up for Australian Live Act and Best Country Album at the ARIA Awards in Sydney on the 26th.
 
Lady Antebellum will receive the CRS 2015 Artist Humanitarian Award when they return to Country Radio Seminar in February.  They are being honored for their humanitarian work – particularly with children’s charities.
 
Kenny Chesney is rebelling against “Bro-Country.”  He says his song “Wild Child” from his The Big Revival album is his stand against the Bro Country Movement, and it reunites him with duet partner Grace Potter.

November 19th


Parmalee performed at our 22nd K COUNTRY Acoustic Concert last night and talked with us back stage a bit about their recent performance on Craig Ferguson.  They said that the studio is in the same building as The Price As Right and they had to stop and get a picture of themselves spinning the wheel.
Scotty McCreery recently built a beach house on the coast of North Carolina.  He says it’s got a man cave and it’s his little escape.
More performers have been added to the ACC Awards – Jason Aldean, Eric Church, Carrie Underwood, and Brett Eldredge join Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line, and Miranda Lambert on the December 15th show on FOX.
ASCAP has honored Garth Brooks with the Centennial Award Monday night.
Carrie Underwood admits she’s enjoying some of the perks of being pregnant... like getting away with saying a little more because... “What are they gonna do to a pregnant lady?”  She also gets excited over getting to use the expectant mother’s parking at stores.

Kenny Chesney has a secret girlfriend!  He says he took a trip to Italy earlier this year with her where they hung out a drank a little too much red wine.  Kenny’s also getting ready to release a new Christmas song – “Christmas in Blue Chair Bay.”
Rascal Flatts are gonna be getting their Vegas on!  They’re bringing the first country residency, Rascal Flatts Vegas Riot! to The Joint inside the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino with 9 shows between February 25th and March 14th.
Alan Jackson, Lady A and Carrie Underwood were all winners at the 2014 Inspirational Music Awards.  Carrie won Mainstream Country Female of the Year.  Alan took home Mainstream Country Male Artist of the Year.  Lady A won for Mainstream Song of the Year for “Compass.”
Trisha Yearwood and LeAnn Rimes will perform during the 82nd Annual Christmas in Rockefeller Center on December 3rd at 8PM on ABC.

November 17th


Baby bump or puppy pillow... you be the judge.  Carrie Underwood says that her dog Penny Jean likes to snuggle up to her belly and use it as a pillow.
Speaking of dogs... Miranda Lambert’s dogs have their own house!  It’s got hear and air, little doggy beds, and a fence.  She’s got 7 dogs of her own, plus she helps many more through her Muttnation Foundation animal charity.
We’ve got a name for Brantley Gilbert’s fiancée... she is Amber Cochran, a schoolteacher from his hometown.  They’ve known each other for 10 years and he says that the wedding is planned for June.
Jason Aldean, Brantley Gilbert, and Kacey Musgraves are among the new Pollstar Awards nominees.  Jason is up for Major Tour of the Year.  Kacey and Brantley are nominated for Best New Touring Artist.
Big & Rich taped an episode of DirecTV’s Guitar Center Sessions.  It will air on January 2nd on the Audience Network.

November 14th


Austin City Limits Proudly Presents an Hour with Music Sensation Eric Church premieres tomorrow as part of the PBS music series’ 40th Season.
Larry the Cable Guy will host the 2014 CMT Artists of the Year special on December 2nd.  It honors Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line, Miranda Lambert, and Keith Urban.
Hunter Hayes gets his musical talent from his mom.  He can play quite a few instruments, but his mom taught him how to play the once he uses most – his guitar.
Keith Urban is lending his voice to support Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month with a public service announcement he recorded.

November 13th


Tim McGraw will perform on A Very Grammy Christmas on Friday, December 5th.  The show will tape on Tuesday in Los Angeles.
Blake Shelton just scored his 13th consecutive #1 single with “Neon Light,” making him the artist with the MOST consecutive #1 songs on the Billboard and Mediabase country charts since the beginning of monitored airplay!
And the exodus continues... Brantley Gilbert and Justin Moore are the latest country stars to pull their latest albums from the Spotify music service.
Garth was surprised during an interview on Entertainment Tonight.  The show flew in Teresa Shaw – the woman who had held up a sign that said “Chemo this morning, Garth tonight” at his Minneapolis show last Friday.  She had the guitar he had given her during the concert with her, and Garth took it and played a more intimate performance of The Dance just for her.  He also told her that he’ll keep her handmade sign in his locker for the duration of his tour because of the strength it will bring.

November 12th


Kenny Chesney is bringing Jake Owen, Cole Swindell and Chase Rice on the road with him for his Big Revival Tour.
Hunter Hayes brought his girlfriend to the CMA’s with him.  She didn’t walk the red carpet with him, but they sat together and she’s apparently his hair stylist, 25 year old Libby Barnes.  So, they won’t be separated when he’s on tour this Fall and in 2015.
Faith Hill is set to star in a new movie called “Dixieland.”  It’s a crime drama and she’ll play the mother of a young man, just out of prison, who moves back home and falls for the troubled girl next door.  The cast includes Riley Keough – Elvis Presley’s granddaughter.
Craig Campbell has a song featured on Garth’s new album called “All-American Kid.”  Speaking of Garth... he has jumped on the social media bandwagon!  He finally has his own Facebook fan page and Twitter handle.

November 11th


Kenny Chesney is lining up even more stadium shows – this time around he’s got 5 of them with Eric Church.  These shows will kick off on May 9th in Indianapolis with other shows in Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Philly, and Detroit.
 
Garth’s brand new album Man Against Machine is out today!  Garth says the new album has been in the making for years and it was a dream come true to be able to make at this time in his life.
 
Our little Scotty is growing up… Scotty McCreery has a girlfriend, and she’s someone he’s known his whole life.  But that’s about all he’s got to say about that.
 
Cole Swindell can cross something off his bucket list – meeting Reba.  He ran into her backstage at the CMA’s when he was changing.  He says she’s the real deal and she’s a huge reason why he loves country music.

November 10th


The Swon Brothers have been chosen NRA Country’s featured artist for November.  The boys grew up hunting and fishing in Oklahoma.
Billy Currington’s 6th studio album will be out early next year.  In the meantime, we’re getting a little taste of it with his latest single “Don’t It.”  He says we’ll be able to hear a lot more when he hits the road in the spring.
Jason Aldean followed Taylor Swift’s lead and has pulled music from Spotify.  While Taylor pulled all of her albums, Jason only pulled his latest.
Lady A will ring in the New Year at Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest!  They’ll be performing live from downtown Nashville.

November 7th


Pregnancy hormones are kicking in and Carrie Underwood says they kicked in hard when she and her husband went car shopping.  She burst into tears because she didn’t want some strangers driving her car. So... they decided to sell it to friends instead of trading it in.
Miranda Lambert has partnered with Ram Tricks to auction a Ram Laramie Longhorn to benefit her MuttNation Foundation.
Garth Brooks will perform live at the 2014 American Music Awards from one of his tour stops in North Carolina on the 23rd.
Nominees are in for the 2015 People’s Choice Awards set to air on January 7th.  Blake Shelton is up for Favorite Male Artist and Favorite Male Country Artist.  Brad Paisley, Hunter Hayes, Luke Bryan, and Tim McGraw are also up for Favorite Male Country Artist.  Carrie Underwood, Dolly Parton, Faith Hill, Lucy Hale, and Miranda Lambert are up for Favorite Female Country Artist, and in the Favorite Country Group category... it’s The Band Perry, Florida Georgia Line, Lady A, Rascal Flatts, and Zac Brown Band.

November 6th


Big surprise as Luke Bryan scooped up the Entertainer of the Year award at last night’s CMA’s.  His emotional speech required a box of Kleenex.  By the way... it was Luke’s very FIRST CMA award ever.
Reigning country royalty Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert picked up the Male and Female Vocalist of the Year awards.  Miranda’s performance of “All About That Bass” with Meghan Trainor was one of the highlights of the show.  Host Brad Paisley joked that Meghan could country it up by changing the name to “All About That Bass” and made her a pair of daisy dukes on the spot.
Speaking of Brad... he and his co-host, Carrie Underwood, poked fun of everything – in their musical way – from George Strait’s retirement to the Ebola nurse in Maine... where they changed the words to Dolly Parton’s song “Jolene” to “Quarantine.”  And they also revealed that Carrie is having a baby boy... Brad suggested Carrie name him Garth after Carrie asked if he thought Garth would sign her baby.
We’re wondering what Brett Eldredge is gonna do now that he’s won New Artist of the Year... he’s jumped out of a plane and swam with sharks... and that was just in celebration of his #1’s.
Vocal Duo went to Florida Georgia Line, Little Big Town picked up Vocal Group of the Year.  Single and Album went to Miranda Lambert who also scored an award with Keith Urban for Musical Event of the Year for their duet “We Were Us.”  Kacey Musgraves took home the award for Song of the Year for “Follow Your Arrow.”  And she was part of a surprise performance with the one and only Loretta Lynn.  And speaking of surprises... Tim Tebow came out to present with Darius Rucker who said he’s always been on “Team Tebow.”

Kenny Chesney has released his Flora-Bama Jam concert footage exclusively to CMT which will air the concert beginning November 14th.
Cole Swindell – who is up for the CMA New Artist of the Year Award tonight – is gearing up to launch his Down Home Tour next month.  He’ll also release a special fan EP called Down Home Sessions on November 17th.
The numbers are in and Florida Georgia Line kicked off Florida-Georgia Weekend with more than 16thousand fans Friday night in Jacksonville at their Anything Goes Tailgate 2014.  And we sent several of our K COUNTRY Listeners there to be part of it!
Jake Owen wrapped up his Days of Gold 2014 tour in his hometown of Vero Beach where he donated $200thousand dollars to the Jake Owen Foundation which benefits children’s charities.

Brad Paisley has extended hos Country Nation World Tour through March 2015.  The last leg will kick off in Morgantown, WV on January 17th with special guests Parmalee and The Swon Brothers, and will make a stop in Pensacola on January 23rd.
On Friday, Garth Brooks spent the morning in Nashville giving a preview of his highly-anticipated new album, Man Against Machine, which will be released next Tuesday.  Garth sampled the 14-track album for the eager crowd at Sony Nashville’s offices before giving a powerful acoustic performance of the song “Mom.”
Even MORE performers have been added for tomorrow night’s CMA Awards Show.  Among them are Hunter Hayes, Jennifer Nettles, Thomas Rhett, and Cole Swindell.
A few of country’s leading men are up for another award... Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, and Florida Georgia Line are all up for the all-genre Billboard Touring Awards.

November 3rd


Carrie Underwood is celebrating 10 years in country music next year and on December 9th she’ll release her Greatest Hits: Decade #1 album.  Her latest single “Something In The Water” is the first track on it.  It also includes another new song she co-wrote called “Little Toy Guns,” with a total of 25 tracks on the double disc set.
Keith Urban sure is a good catch... while being interviewed on The Ellen DeGeneres Show recently, his wife, actress Nicole Kidman, said that he literally carried her after her father’s death, and that she would do anything for him.
Here’s something you won’t see every day... Tim McGraw playing a store opening!  He’ll be playing at a Microsoft Store opening in Dallas this weekend.
Parmalee dressed as the cast of the Dukes of Hazzard for Halloween on Friday representing the Duke boys, Uncle Jess, and Boss Hogg.  They’ll be at our next K COUNTRY Acoustic Concert on the 18th along with Brothers Osborne and Frankie Ballard.  Just a few seats left!

October 30th


With Halloween just a day away, the members of Little Big Town are getting ready to dress up their kids – and themselves – for the big candy day.  Phillip’s family is going all vampire.  His daughter, Penelopi, came up with the idea.  Meanwhile, Karen and Jimi’s son, Elijah, wants Daddy to dress up as Peter Pan because he’s going to be Captain Hook.  Jimi says... um... no.
Parmalee will be at our next K COUNTRY Acoustic Concert along with Frankie Ballard and Brothers Osborne.  The guys will be releasing their album Feels Like Home on December 10th.  Brohers Matt and Scott Thomas grew up watching their dad, Jerry, front a popular local southern rock blues band.  Then their cousin, Barry Knox, who played drums for church choir, joined them.  And they called in longtime friend, Josh McSwain.
The ACM Lifting Lives club tour will kick off with 2 dates headlined by Tyler Farr in January.  More clubs and artists will be announced in the coming months with dates through Spring 2015.  The first two shows are in Milwaukee and Chicago.
Hunter Hayes is kicking off the week leading up to the 48th Annual CMA Awards next week with a free nighttime concert in downtown Nashville on Monday as part of his involvement with the USO’s Every Moment Counts campaign.
