Do you ever attend a show at Ocala Civic Theatre and wonder, “How do they do that???” Then join us for our annual Open House and Backstage Tour on Saturday, November 12 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. as we show you the secrets of how we work our magic to create the fabulous sets, costumes, and props you see in each production.
Our guided tour will take you behind the scenes to explore the wonderful world of backstage. You’ll get an up-close-and-personal look at the set, props, and costumes created for Agatha Christie’s classic murder mystery The Mousetrap, live on stage November 3-27.
Join our staff and volunteers as they share a glimpse of how we bring bygone eras to life, create authentic settings, and spin fantasy into reality. In the scene shop, you’ll see examples of set construction wizardry and learn about sound and lighting tricks, while our master craftsmen demonstrate the clever illusions behind our artfully detailed props. And in the costume shop, you’ll be amazed at the thousands of beautiful costumes we have in storage.
The tour is free, and anyone is welcome to attend. No reservations are necessary. Whether you want to satisfy your curiosity or become a volunteer at Ocala Civic Theatre, join us to sneak a peek at the fascinating world behind the curtain!
