With the beginning of school less than a month away, Alachua County Public Schools has compiled important back to school information into a single online site.
The district’s annual Back to School webpage is now operational. The page provides a central location for parents to find school supply lists, the school year calendar, enrollment requirements, the dress code, meet the teacher/orientation dates and times, and other important back-to-school information. New items will be added to the website as needed through the start of the school year, which begins for students on Monday, August 14.
“Parents will have a lot of questions the closer we get to that day,” said Jackie Johnson, the district’s director of communications and community initiatives. “We’ve gathered all the most commonly requested information into one spot to make it easier for families to find what they need for a smooth start to the school year.”
The page also includes information from the state of Florida about this year’s Back to School sales tax holiday. That holiday runs from August 4-6.
Students and families can also learn more about signing up for Skyward Family Access, the online home-school communication system which replaces the Parent Portal system. Like Parent Portal, Family Access allows them to view class assignments, grades, attendance and other information posted by their teachers and schools through their cell phones, laptops and other devices.
Additional information will be posted on the site as it becomes available, including information on bus stop locations and bus pick up and drop off times.
The link to the Back to School 2017 website can be found on the district’s homepage at www.sbac.edu under ‘District Notices.’ The direct link is http://bit.ly/2atZ7eD
Parents, students and other citizens are also encouraged to follow the district on Twitter (@AlachuaSchools) and Facebook (facebook.com/AlachuaCountyPublicSchools) to receive important school-related information throughout the academic year.
